Published On: 10 March 2023

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed its thanks and appreciation to the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Iraq for facilitating the previous rounds of dialogue, which contributed to the resumption of Saudi-Iranian diplomatic relations.

The thanks came in a speech delivered by Dr Musaed bin Muhammad Al Aiban, Saudi Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers of Saudi Arabia and Saudi National Security Adviser, in the Chinese capital, Beijing.

Dr Al Aiban stressed that the emphasis in the agreement to resume relations on the principles of respecting the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their affairs is a fundamental pillar for the development of relations between states. He said it would enhance security and stability, in a way that benefits the two countries and the region in general, as well as contributing to international peace and security.

The agreement to resume diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia will lead to the reopening of the embassies of the two countries and the activation of cooperation agreements between them.
