Oman and Belarus sign cooperation agreements

The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel in Muscat.

The agreements cover cooperation in the fields of competition protection, anti-monopoly practices, consumer protection and information exchange on the operation of financial markets.

The signing took place as part of the official visit of Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, to Oman.

The first MoU, signed between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of Belarus, focuses on competition protection and anti-monopoly practices.

It aims to develop and enhance cooperation between the two parties in this area, including the exchange of information on legal developments and sharing experiences and expertise.

The second MoU, signed between the Consumer Protection Authority and the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of Belarus, seeks to enhance cooperation, exchange information and share experiences related to consumer protection and relevant legislation.

Both agreements were signed on behalf of Oman by Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, and for Belarus by Sergey Lukashevich, Deputy Foreign Minister.

The third MoU, signed between the Capital Market Authority and the Ministry of Finance of Belarus, focuses on information exchange related to the operation of financial markets.

It aims to strengthen investor protection and create favourable conditions for the effective development of financial and insurance markets between the two nations.

This agreement was signed for Oman by Abdullah bin Salem Al Salmi, CEO of the Capital Market Authority, and for Belarus by Sergei Terentiev, the non resident Ambassador of Belarus to Oman.
