Oman and Azerbaijan hold political consultations
The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Azerbaijan held a sixth session of political consultations in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.
The Omani delegation was led by Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, and the Azerbaijani delegation was led by Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan.
The session discussed cooperation in the political, economic and cultural fields. The emphasis was on taking practical steps to activate bilateral exchanges in the tourism and trade sectors, in line with the vision of the leaderships of the two countries.
Sheikh Khalifa expressed his appreciation to Azerbaijan for opening an embassy in Muscat, adding that this will strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During the session, there was consultation and an exchange of views on regional and international issues of common interest. There was agreement on the need to reduce escalation in the region and to find a comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian issue.
On the sidelines of the political consultations, Sheikh Khalifa also met with Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. The meeting stressed support for advancing relations between the two friendly countries.
The political consultations session was attended by Sheikh Mohammed Alnabhani from the Central Asia Department; Rashad Ismayilov, Azerbaijan's Ambassador Oman, and a number of officials from both countries.
