Foreign Minister meets EU Special Representative
Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, received today Luigi Di Maio, Special Representative of the European Union for the Gulf Region.
The meeting reviewed developments in the region, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Oman and the EU.
After the meeting Sayyid Badr said “We advanced our shared agenda for GCC EU relations and Omani EU partnership, including reciprocal support for a free visa regime. We are both committed to continuing to work on this at pace.”
The EU's Special Representatives (EUSRs) promote the EU's policies and interests in specific regions and countries and play an active role in efforts to consolidate peace, stability and the rule of law.
Mr Di Maio, aged 37, a former Italian Foreign Minister, is one of ten EUSRs supporting the work of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell. Mr Di Maio is the first EU Special Representative to the Gulf.
