Oman explores cooperation with Bhutan
Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi and Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, President of the Oman Investment Authority, held a meeting with a team from the Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC project) in Bhutan.
The meeting was attended by Liew Mun Leong, CEO of GMCA, the project’s developer.
The GMC project is one of the leading development initiatives in Bhutan. It aims to establish an integrated smart city to combine innovation, sustainability and the intellectual capital-driven economy, with a focus on attracting investment in advanced technology, education, healthcare, wellbeing and hospitality.
The meeting, discussed the GMC project's components and future plans. It also explored opportunities for cooperation, investment and partnership in this ambitious initiative, in light of the growing relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bhutan.
The Omani delegation conveyed its appreciation for the GMC project's ambitious vision and its potential to serve as a new platform for high quality partnerships between investment, financial and industrial institutions in both countries.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Abdulaziz Alhinai, Oman's Ambassador at large, and Issa Alshibani, Oman's Ambassador to the Republic of India and non-resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bhutan, along with a number of officials from both Bhutan and Oman..
