Joint statement from the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Kuwait
The Omani-Kuwaiti Joint Committee issued a communique marking the committee’s 9th session, which was held in Muscat on 11-12 March, 2023. The communique reads as follows:
“In light of the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Jabir Al Sabah, the Omani-Kuwaiti Joint Committee held its 9th session in Muscat on 11-12 March 2023, under the chairmanship of Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman and Sheikh Salim Abdullah Jabir Al Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, with the participation of some officials from both countries.
The two sides reviewed the distinguished relations between the two countries and expressed their satisfaction with the high level reached by those relations in all fields, especially in the areas of economy, trade and finance, as well as the cooperation in the field of energy, transport, communications, technology, higher education and research, agriculture, fisheries, labour and other fields.
The two sides affirmed their constant commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and enhancing economic, social, cultural, educational, scientific and technical cooperation to serve interests of their peoples and opening new horizons for cooperation that meet the aspirations of the two countries’ leaderships and peoples.
The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of common concern, as their views were identical on them. They underlined their full support for all efforts and endeavors aimed at achieving stability and peace in the region and the world. They also stressed the need to resolve disputes by peaceful means and respecting the sovereignty and independence of states, as well as abiding by the rules of international law and covenants.
They also welcomed the joint tripartite statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People’s Republic of China on restoring the ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran. They affirmed that this step is essential to maintain security and stability in the region.
At the conclusion of the session, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait expressed his thanks and appreciation for the hospitality extended to him and his accompanying delegation, looking forward to Kuwait’s hosting the 10th session of the joint committee.”
