UN Special Envoy to Yemen meets Oman's UN Permanent Representative
Hans Grundberg, the UN's Special Envoy to Yemen, met with Ambassador Mohammed bin Awadh Alhassan, Oman's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, to submit his periodic report on developments in the Republic of Yemen.
During the meeting at the headquarters of Oman's permanent delegation to the UN, Mr Grundberg expressed the UN's gratitude for Oman's role in supporting lasting peace and stability in Yemen.
He said Oman's efforts were indispensable to the international community since they emphasised the united effort towards establishing strong, peaceful relations between Yemen and its neighbours.
Mr Grundberg said he was optimistic about the possibility of progress in Oman's negotiations towards restoring security and stability throughout Yemen.
The meeting came ahead of a briefing Mr Grundberg is scheduled to present to the United Nations Security Council.
The meeting was attended by members of the Office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen and Counsellor Khalid bin Saleh Alrabkhi, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in New York.
