Oman Bahrain Joint Committee meets
The eighth session of the Oman Bahrain Joint Committee was held this evening at the Foreign Ministry in Muscat, chaired by Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi and Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
In his opening speech, Sayyid Badr welcomed Dr Al Zayani, emphasizing that the convening of the eighth session of the Joint Committee reflects the depth of the brotherly relations between the two countries and enhances opportunities for fruitful cooperation in various fields.
He spoke about the significant progress in economic relations between the two countries, noting that the volume of trade up to August 2024 amounted to approximately 118 million Omani Rials. He added that joint investments are seeing substantial growth in sectors such as infrastructure, tourism, logistics, industry and banking.
Sayyid Badr said the meeting would continue the effort to develop strategic partnerships and to explore new horizons that achieve mutual benefits.
For his part, Dr Al Zayani said he appreciated deeply being received by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, thanking him for the warm welcome and wise directives that reaffirm the deep brotherly and sincere relations between the two countries and their peoples.
He praised the ongoing political cooperation between the two countries, marked by joint coordination and consultation on regional and international issues and challenges. He highlighted the Joint Committee's role in bolstering collective efforts to support regional security and stability amidst ongoing conflicts and destructive wars.
At the conclusion of the Joint Committee, Sayyid Badr and Dr Al Zayani signed the minutes of the eighth session.
The meeting was attended from Oman by Khalid Almuslahi, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Sheikh Ahmed Almaskari, Head of the Ministry's Department for the GCC and Region and Sayyid Faisal Hareb Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman's Ambassador to Bahrain.
From Bahrain, the meeting was attended by Hamad bin Faisal Al Maliki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Dr Juma bin Ahmed Al Kaabi, Bahrain's Ambassador to Oman; and several officials from both countries.
