Swiss President visits Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque
Alain Berset, President of the Swiss Confederation, and his wife today visited the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, as part of their official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
The Swiss President and his accompanying delegation were received by Habib Mohammed Al Riyami, Chairman of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science.
During the visit, the guest was briefed on the Mosque’s history and its Omani and Islamic architectural designs.
He also went on a tour of the Mosque’s facilities, such as the Institute of Islamic Sciences, the library and the lecture hall.
At the conclusion of his visit to the Mosque, President Berset wrote in the VIP visitors’ register, expressing his admiration for its unique designs and architectural arts, and its role in supporting and promoting Islamic studies.
During their visit, the Swiss President and his wife were accompanied by Dr Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, Dr Madiha bint Ahmed Al-Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, and a number of officials.
