Swiss President leaves Oman
Alain Berset, President of the Swiss Confederation, left the country this morning after a two-day official visit to the Sultanate of Oman, during which he met with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
Leading the party bidding farewell to the guest and his accompanying delegation upon their departure from the Royal Private Airport was Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court.
Also present were Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister of Foreign; Dr Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health and Head of the Mission of Honour; Mahmoud bin Hamad Al Hasani, Oman's Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation and Thomas Oertel, Switzerland's Ambassador to Oman.
The Swiss President was accompanied by his wife and an official delegation that included: Thomas Oertel, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Sultanate of Oman, Ambassador Maya Tissafi, Under-Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Middle East and North Africa Affairs Department; Ambassador Nora Kronig-Romero, Head of the International Affairs Department and Deputy Director of the Federal Office of Public Health; Ambassador Wolfgang Amadeus Brülhart, the Swiss Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs, and a number of officials of the Swiss Confederation.
