The Omani Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education held meetings with Singapore's National Institute of Education and the Singaporean Ministry of Education.

They discussed ways of cooperating to ensure the quality of Omani education and to learn how Singapore improves the performance of its public schools.

The meetings were part of a wide-ranging visit by a delegation from the Authority headed by CEO Dr Jokha bint Abdullah Al Shukaili.

They also visited the Institute of Technical Education which offers around 77 vocational programmes and two-year technical diplomas in fields including health, beauty, engineering, trade, services sector, energy and agriculture.

The visit was the latest in a series carried out by the Authority to learn about the best international practices used to develop a robust system for evaluating the performance of schools.

The Authority has previously met with the Tribal Group, a company providing the expertise, software and services needed by education organisations worldwide, and also visited the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris last November.

The OECD says a strong education system has enabled Singapore to develop a modern, vibrant economy with well-trained and highly motivated teachers central to its success.
