Russia: Universities sign student exchange agreement

Sultan Qaboos University and Saint Petersburg State University in the Russian Federation have signed an undergraduate and postgraduate student exchange agreement.

The signing took place at the opening of the Oman Day exhibition at the Moscow Kremlin Museum titled, “The Elegance of Silver: valuables of the Omani court.”

The cooperation agreement includes receiving students from St Petersburg State University to study for a semester at Sultan Qaboos University and provides the opportunity for students of Sultan Qaboos University to study at St Petersburg State University with the aim of strengthening the university’s plans for international cooperation.

The agreement was signed by Dr Mona bint Fahd Al Said, Assistant President of Sultan Qaboos University for International Cooperation, and by Dr Sergei Vladimir Andryushin, Vice President of St Petersburg State University, in the presence of Jamal bin Hassan Al Musawi, Secretary General of the National Museum; Hamood bin Salim bin Abdullah Altowaiya, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation and Ambassador Abdullah bin Hamad Al Riyami, Head of the Cultural Cooperation Department at the Foreign Ministry.

St Petersburg State University is one of the oldest and most famous universities in the Russian Federation. It was founded in 1724 by Peter the Great and is considered one of Russia's leading educational institutions.

The university offers a wide range of academic programmes including natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, engineering, and medicine.
