Russia awards Friendship Order to Omani diplomat

The Russian Federation has awarded Ambassador Dr Adnan bin Rashid Alazri the Order of Friendship in recognition of his significant contributions to the activities of the United Nations Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS).

The award was presented on behalf of the Russian President by Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, at the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations in New York.

During the ceremony, Minister Kozlov praised Dr Alazri's active role in promoting international cooperation on the limits of the continental shelf. He noted that this honour reflects the strong relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation and reflects international appreciation for Oman's efforts in international forums.

Dr Alazri expressed his gratitude to the Russian Federation for this recognition, adding that his efforts reflect his commitment to achieving the objectives for which the CLCS was established.

Dr Adnan Al Azri has previously served as chair of the Commission and has played an active role in several important projects  to enhance scientific understanding and strengthen ties between member states.
