Political Affairs Undersecretary addresses Duqm Forum

Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, participated in the Fifth Duqm Forum, currently being held in Muscat under the theme, “The Blue Economy – A New Investment Destination.”

The forum is organised by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones.

In his speech on behalf of the Foreign Ministry, Sheikh Khalifa highlighted the importance of the blue economy in harnessing oceanic riches sustainably for a prosperous future.

He emphasised the need to utilise and invest in it wisely to ensure future generations benefit from its resources given its economic returns and role in diversifying income sources.

He also outlined the Ministry's efforts in this area, recalling a conference it organised in 2014 on the blue economy. He noted that the Ministry is planning to host a conference in November next year focused on cooperation in the Indian Ocean.
