Oman's efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing recognised
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has published the 2024 Mutual Evaluation Report on Oman’s anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing systems.
The Report says that the Sultanate demonstrates a high level of adherence to FATF standards and has a good understanding of money laundering and terrorist financing risks. Oman has strengthened its system by implementing extensive reforms within its legal, regulatory, and supervisory frameworks, the Report adds.
The Report also notes that Oman has a robust legal and institutional system to investigate money laundering and terrorist financing crimes. It says the relevant authorities are equipped with the necessary resources to pursue such offences effectively, and investigative authorities have swift access to financial and other critical information.
This Report marks a significant step in enhancing national efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. It is an international recognition of Oman’s commitment to and compliance with global standards aimed at promoting financial integrity and economic stability.
