Talal founded 44.01, a start-up that eliminates CO2 by mineralising it into rock, in 2020. His goal was to accelerate the natural process of carbon mineralisation to remove CO2 permanently, safely and at scale. The company won the Earthshot Prize and an Elon Musk Institute XPrize in 2022. It now operates in Oman and the UAE.
Talal’s background is in corporate law with a focus on energy projects in Oman, UAE, and the UK. He has experience in cleantech and helped to set up Oman’s venture capital arm.
