Anwar discovered his love of art at age 7 when living in Bahrain. He went on to pioneer the Omani Art Movement.

His work is a combination of impressionism, pointillism and expressionism, and often incorporates Arabic calligraphy. He is inspired by Oman’s traditions, folklore and geography, in particular in Dhofar, his homeland.

Anwar’s work has been exhibited across the globe. He has received recognition for his art and for his contribution to Oman, for example the Sultan Qaboos Golden Prize, the Sharjah International Biennial award for Most Distinguished Arab Artist, and as the leading artist at Oman’s Bait Muzna Gallery.
