Omani-Kuwaiti Joint Committee session
The 9th session of the Omani-Kuwaiti Joint Committee got underway in Muscat today, chaired by Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister of Oman and Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al Jaber Al Sabah, Foreign Minister of the State of Kuwait.
At the outset of the committee's work, Sayyid Badr spoke about the close ties that bind Omani-Kuwaiti brotherly relations at all levels. He stressed the keenness of the two countries’ leaderships to continue developing those relations in the diplomatic, economic, cultural, tourism and scientific fields. He added that the two leaderships are also keen to enhance technical cooperation and exchange experience and expertise to hone the skills of human resources and so keep pace with advancing technologies and best practice.
Sheikh Salem spoke of the importance of the work of the Joint Committee in enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, culture, science, arts and education and in promoting investment trade, industry and tourism for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples.
He called on Kuwait’s private sector to invest in Oman to make the most of the lucrative investment opportunities available in the Sultanate.
The Committee’s agenda covered a range of topics, especially in the economic, business, cultural, educational, scientific and technical spheres.
At the end of the meeting, what had been discussed and agreed was reviewed and the joint minutes of the Omani-Kuwaiti Joint Committee at its ninth session were signed.
The joint Omani-Kuwaiti Committee was established in 2003 to boost cooperation and coordination in various fields. This cooperation sits within the framework of a joint effort to increase economic, social and cultural integration between Oman and Kuwait.
The session was attended from the Omani side by Ambassador Khalid Al Muslahi, Head of the Minister’s Office; Sheikh Ahmed Almaskari, Head of the GCC Department; Ambassador Yousef Alamri, Head of the Arab Cooperation Department and Dr Saleh Alkharousi, Ambassador of Oman to Kuwait.
It was attended from the Kuwaiti side by Salem bin Ghassab Al Zamanan, Assistant Foreign Minister for GCC Affairs; Nawaf Abdul Latif Al-Ahmad, Assistant Foreign Minister for Minister's Office Affairs; Mohammed Nasser Al Hajri, Kuwait's Ambassador to Oman as well as members of the committee from the Omani and Kuwaiti sides in various sectors.
