Oman takes part in Arab Communications Ministers meeting
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology represented Oman in the meeting of the 27th session of the Council of Arab Ministers for Communications and Information held in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
Dr Ahmed bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Oman's Ambassador to the UAE, headed the delegation.
In his speech, the Ambassador outlined how Oman's achievements in the sector had contributed to the government's economic diversification efforts as part of the National Program for Digital Economy.
The attendees discussed further Arab cooperation including ways of strengthening cybersecurity systems and making more effective use of artificial intelligence.
They also addressed the challenges faced by the Palestinian communications sector as a result of the ongoing Israeli occupation and aggression in Gaza.
Delegates were briefed on the 2023 Arab Postal Development Report issued by the Universal Postal Union which highlighted the essential role of the postal sector in the growth of global e-commerce.
