Oman in Arab and International meetings about Syria
The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Foreign Ministry, participated in the Arab meeting in Riyadh to discuss regional and international efforts to achieve stability in Syria, and to support political solutions to the crisis.
Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister, headed the Omani delegation and emphasised that the meeting represents an important step toward supporting Syria in regaining its natural position within the Arab, regional, and international spheres.
The Minister highlighted the importance of joint efforts to support the aspirations of the Syrian people for a future that ensures security, unity, development, reconstruction, and the lifting of international economic sanctions.
He also stressed the need to continue urging the United Nations and the Security Council to uphold their responsibilities and take decisive actions to ensure the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Mount Hermon, Quneitra Governorate, and all Syrian territories, in full compliance with the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
He noted that the meeting reflects a positive spirit of collective cooperation and shared responsibility in supporting Syria and fostering peace and stability in the region.
The meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, as well as the Foreign Ministers of Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt.
In addition, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi chaired the Omani delegation at the expanded international ministerial meeting on Syria, also held in Riyadh.
This meeting aimed to strengthen regional and international coordination to support a constructive political transition in Syria, achieve security and stability, and advance reconstruction and economic recovery in line with the aspirations of the Syrian people, while preserving Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers of GCC countries, several Foreign Ministers of brotherly and friendly nations, the United Nations envoy to Syria, and a representative of the European Union.
