Oman Hungary committee meets

The first meeting of the Omani-Hungarian Joint Committee was held in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, attended by representatives of governmental institutions the two friendly countries.

Two day's of discussion covered prospects for cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Hungary, especially in the economic and trade fields. The subjects discussed included renewable energy and green hydrogen, the agricultural sector, water management, science and technology transfers and development.

The Foreign Ministry's Undersecretary for Political Affairs Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, led Oman's representation at the Committee and Tamas Vargha, Deputy Minister of Defence led Hungary's representation.

The Committee also discussed the prospects for joint investment, noting the importance of detailed follow-up to achieve the desired mutually beneficial results.

At the end of the discussions, the two sides signed a final statement on this first round of meetings.

From Oman the committee’s meetings were attended by Ambassador Munther Almanthari, Head of the Ministry's Europe Department, Yousuf Ahmed Aljabri, Oman's non-resident ambassador to Hungary, based in Vienna, as well as representatives of Omani ministries and government institutions. It was also attended Hungary by Bernabas Fodor, Hungary's Ambassador to Oman, as well as officials of Hungarian government institutions.

During his visit to Hungary, Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy also met with Levente Magyar, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They discussed bilateral relations and regional and international issues of concern to the two friendly countries.
