Oman elected to UN anti discrimination committee

The Sultanate of Oman has been elected as a member of the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women at the United Nations for the period 2025-2028.

This took place during the elections held on the sidelines of the 23rd Meeting of the States Parties to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The Sultanate of Oman was elected as a member of a UN committee

Oman is represented on the committee by Engineer Hamida bint Saloom Al Shakheiry, Director of the Rural Development Department at the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Water Resources.

Oman's election to the committee underscores its international standing and its active role in achieving women's empowerment and providing all forms of protection and care for women. It also reflects the member states' keenness to have Oman represented on this important committee.
