Oman condemns Israeli bombing of Iran, supports peace efforts

26 October 2024

The Foreign Ministry expresses the Sultanate of Oman’s strong condemnation and concern over the airstrike launched by Israel on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran this morning.

In an official statement, the Ministry says that this act constitutes a blatant violation of Iran's sovereignty, a clear breach of international law and an escalation that fuels a cycle of violence, undermining efforts aimed at de-escalation, tension reduction and crisis containment through peaceful and diplomatic means.

While Oman denounces these ongoing Israeli practices that threaten to drag the region into further turmoil and instability, it reiterates its call for the international community to take effective action to stop the aggression and put an end to these blatant violations on the territory of neighbouring countries in the region.

The Sultanate also restates its call that it is necessary to address the root causes of the region's crises by ending the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestinian and Arab territories and halting aggression on the Gaza Strip, as mandated by United Nations and Security Council resolutions.

It demands the recognition of the Palestinian people's right to self determination and the establishment of an independent state along the 1967 borders within the framework of a two state solution, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative, ensuring a just and lasting peace for all parties.
