Oman chairs GCC Ministerial Council meeting
Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi chaired a session of the GCC Ministerial Council at the headquarters of the GCC Secretariat General in Riyadh today.
The meeting, the 155th session of the Ministerial Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, was attended by GCC foreign ministers and the GCC Secretary General.
In his speech, Sayyid Badr emphasised the approach taken by the GCC to support peace, security and stability, both regionally and globally in order to secure the benefits of development and prosperity for all, while promoting constructive cooperation between different countries and peoples.
He welcomed the tripartite joint statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People’s Republic of China on resuming Saudi-Iranian diplomatic relations. Sayyid Badr said the agreement constitutes a significant step in the context of the GCC's common goals.
The Ministers reviewed the implementation of decisions issued by the GCC Supreme Council to enhance joint GCC action.
The participating ministers took decisions needed to promote cooperation and solidarity among member states and to develop economic, cultural, educational and security ties in a way that contributes to consolidating and sustaining stability and comprehensive development in the region.
