Oman at Non-Aligned Movement meeting

Oman took part in a meeting of foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement held in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, in preparation for the Non-Aligned Movement summit on Friday.

Opening the session, Jessica Alupo, Vice  President of Uganda, spoke of the importance of solidarity among member states to protect their interests amidst current global developments that require increased coordination and cooperation among them.

The meeting discussed various topics of common interest, with a focus on the continued Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip. It called  for an immediate end to the aggression and the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid.

The meeting also stressed the necessity of achieving a permanent and comprehensive solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on the two-state solution.

Oman's delegation to the meeting was headed by Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs. It also included Ambassador Khalid bin Suleiman Baomar, Head of the International Organisations Department and Ambassador Dr Mohamed bin Awad Alhassan, Oman's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.
