Prime Minister Meloni expressed her sincere appreciation to His Majesty for the participation of Oman in the Conference and her good wishes to His Majesty and the Omani people for continued progress and prosperity.

The Conference is to address the issue of migration, to combat human trafficking and to promote economic development within the framework of multilateral cooperation.

It seeks to identify solutions to the challenges facing countries with regard to immigration, illegal movement, smuggling and trafficking of migrants. It hopes to do this by launching a platform for cooperation between all concerned countries, to secure the active participation and mutual commitment of international organisations, the countries from which migrants depart and those that receive them.

The Conference discussed mechanisms for strengthening legal migration routes and contributing to joint development projects that help achieve sustainable development goals, as the basis for security, stability and economic and social progress.

The Conference was attended by representatives of many countries, including heads of state and government, as well as representatives of international bodies and organisations.
