Oman at conference on prohibiting chemical weapons

The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 28th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, which commenced in The Hague with the attendance of all member states of the Organisation.

The Omani delegation at the session, which started on November 27th and continues until December 1st, was headed by Dr Abdullah bin Salem bin Hamad Alharthy, Oman's Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and its Permanent Representative to the Organisation.

The Conference discussed ways to enhance international cooperation in chemical activities. The current session's president, vice-presidents, and members of the Organisation's Executive Council were elected. The Organisation's budget and programme for the coming year were approved, along with the report of the external auditor and amendments to some financial and administrative regulations. Additionally, the Organisation's annual report on the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention for the year 2023 was discussed.
