Oman and UAE sign 16 agreements

The Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates signed today at Al Alam Palace 16 agreements and memoranda of understanding.

This took place within the framework of the visit to Oman of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President.

The agreements signed include a memorandum of understanding in the field of energy between the Ministry of Energy and Minerals in Oman and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in the UAE. This was signed on the Omani side by Engineer Salem bin Nasser Al-Awfi, Minister of Energy and Minerals and from the UAE side by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure.

In the field of cooperation on transport and logistics, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in Oman and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in the UAE. It was signed on the Omani side by Eng. Salem bin Nasser Al-Awfi, Minister of Energy and Minerals and from the UAE side by His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy. and Infrastructure.

Another memorandum of understanding in the field of maritime transport was signed between the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in Oman and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates. It was signed on the Omani side by Engineer Salem bin Nasser Al-Awfi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, and from the UAE side by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure.

A memorandum of understanding in cooperation and investment in the field of industry was signed between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Oman and the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology in the UAE. It was signed on the Omani side by Engineer Salem bin Nasser Al-Awfi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, and from the UAE side by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and infrastructure.

In the fields of culture and youth, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth in Oman and the Ministry of Culture and Youth in the UAE signed a memorandum of understanding signed on the Omani side by Engineer Salem bin Nasser Al-Awfi, Minister of Energy and Minerals and from the Emirati side by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in Oman and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in the United Arab Emirates also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the fields of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and food safety. It was signed on the Omani side by Engineer Salem bin Nasser Al-Awfi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, and from the UAE side by His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure.

In the field of higher education, scientific research, innovation and vocational training, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Oman and the Ministry of Education in the UAE. It was signed on the Omani side by Engineer Salem bin Nasser Al-Awfi, Minister of Energy and Minerals and from the UAE side by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure.

The Ministry of Information, represented by the Oman News Agency and the Emirates News Agency, representing the UAE, also signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of news and information exchange. It was signed on the Omani side by Ibrahim bin Saif Al-Azri, Director General and Editor-in-Chief of the Oman News Agency and on the Emirati side by Mohammed Jalal Al Raisi, Director General of the Emirates News Agency.

In the field of cooperation in exchanging information related to money laundering and related crimes and the financing of terrorism, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the National Centre for Financial Information in Oman and the Financial Intelligence Unit in the UAE. It was signed by Colonel Abdulrahman Amir Al Kiyomi, CEO of Oman’s National Centre for Financial Information and Ali Faisal Ba'Alawi, Head of the UAE’s Financial Intelligence Unit.

A cooperation agreement was also signed between Oman Rail and Etihad Rail. It was signed from the Omani side by Engineer Abdul Rahman bin Salem Al Hatmi, CEO of Asyad Group, and Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Rail from the UAE side.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Omani Group for Communications and Information Technology (ITHCA Group) and the Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company. It was signed from the Omani side by Atef bin Saeed Al Siyabi, Vice Chairman of the ITHCA Group for Communications and Information Technology and on the Emirati side by Mohammed Hassan Al Suwaidi, CEO and Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Holdings.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Muscat Stock Exchange and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange. This was signed by Haitham Salim Al Salmi, CEO of the Muscat Stock Exchange and from the UAE side by Said Hamad Al Dhaheri, CEO of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

An agreement was also signed for the remote trading of brokerage companies through electronic trading. (Tadawul). It was signed on the Omani side by Haitham bin Salem Al Salem, CEO of Muscat Stock Exchange and from the UAE side, by Said Hamad Al Dhaheri, CEO of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

In the field of dual-listing of securities, an agreement was signed between the Muscat Stock Exchange and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange in the United Arab Emirates. It was signed from the Omani side by Haitham bin Salim Al Salmi, CEO of Muscat Stock Exchange and for the UAE side, by Said Hamad Al Dhaheri, CEO of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Muscat Clearing and Depository Company and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange Company. It was signed on the Omani side by Haitham bin Salem Al Salmi, CEO of the Muscat Stock Exchange and on the Emirati side, by Said Hamad Al Dhaheri, CEO of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

A further agreement in the field of dual-listing of securities was signed between the Muscat Clearing Company in Oman and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange in the UAE. It was signed by Haitham bin Salem Al Salmi, CEO of the Muscat Stock Exchange and for the UAE side by Saeed Hamad Al Dhaheri, CEO of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.
