Oman and Tanzania sign memoranda of understanding
The Sultanate of Oman and the United Republic of Tanzania signed at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel in Muscat today several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in the presence of President Samia Suluhu Hassan of the United Republic of Tanzania.
The MoUs cover the fields of energy, tourism, natural resources, higher education, training and national museums.
A trilateral MoU was also signed between the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), the Tanzanian Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) and the Zanzibar National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC).
A memorandum was also signed between the Oman Investment Authority (OIA) and the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA).
Private sector MoUs were also signed between the Oman Airports Management Company and Kilimanjaro International Airport; between the Oman Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL) and the Association of Tanzania Oil and Gas Service Providers (ATOGS); between the Al Bashayer Meat company and the National Company for Live Animals and between the Oman Food Investment Holding Company (OFIC) and the Tanzanian Horticultural Association.
Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, announced to the Oman News Agency (ONA) the establishment of an investment fund between the Oman and Tanzania. The fund will invest in projects of value to the two countries in various fields, including agriculture, fishing and mining.
Sayyid Badr said that trade exchanges between the two countries are forecast to increase, especially after Oman and Tanzania today signed several memoranda of understanding, in addition to the existing agreements between the Oman Investment Authority (OIA) and the Tanzanian authority concerned. He added that the two countries will later sign MoUs in various economic, investment, energy and tourism fields with a work programme in hand for those agreements.
The signing of the memoranda was attended by a number of officials from the Omani and Tanzanian sides.
