The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Singapore continue to strengthen their bilateral relations through strategic initiatives reflecting the commitment of both countries to enhance partnership and cooperation.

Dr Mohamed Maliki Bin Osman, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Education and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, of the Republic of Singapore, emphasised the deep historical ties between Oman and Singapore. He highlighted that both friendly countries share common goals and future visions, most notably the pursuit of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

The Minister said that the convening of the second strategic dialogue between Oman and Singapore in Muscat reaffirms the commitment of the leadership of both countries to continue building mutual cooperation, to explore investment opportunities and to follow up on projects that contribute to advancing bilateral relations and strategic partnership.

He noted that during the dialogue meeting, the two countries discussed topics of mutual interest, focusing on advanced technology, clean and renewable energy, food and water security, the digital economy, maritime security, and cybersecurity.

Dr Osman expressed his satisfaction with the progress in bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Singapore, as the two friendly nations celebrate the 40th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties.

Oman is the seventh largest trading partner of Singapore. In 2023, the two countries agreed to elevate their diplomatic relations  by upgrading their general consulates to resident embassies in each other's capitals.

The Minister noted the continued exchange of visits by the leaders of both countries. In 2009, President S.R. Nathan of Singapore visited Oman, and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said paid a state visit to Singapore at the end of 2023. These reciprocal visits, he affirmed, reflect the commitment of the leadership of both nations to advancing bilateral relations to drive towards progress and prosperity.

He also highlighted the shared rich maritime history of Oman and Singapore, recalling the historic journey of the “Jewel of Muscat”, a ship gifted by His late Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to the friendly people of Singapore. Its voyage from Oman to Singapore in 2010, symbolises the enduring cultural connections between nations, he added.
