In cooperation with the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Muscat, a celebration was held at the Foreign Ministry to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Brunei.

The event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Khalifa Al Harthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, and attended by Noralizan Abdul Momin, Brunei's Ambassador to Oman, along with diplomats from the embassy of Brunei in Muscat.

During the ceremony, a commemorative logo symbolising the strength and depth of the relations between the two friendly countries was unveiled.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Oman and Brunei in 1984, the two countries have laid the foundations for fruitful cooperation in various political, diplomatic, economic, and cultural fields. This cooperation has been characterised by positivity and mutual respect.

Speaking at the event, Sheikh Khalifa said : “The relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Brunei Darussalam are deeply rooted and characterised by ongoing communication. The two friendly countries have succeeded in enhancing and strengthening these relations in various economic, cultural, and political fields.”

“There are many projects and investment opportunities between the two countries, particularly in aquaculture, the healthcare sector, and student exchanges. The communication and meetings are ongoing to expand these relations,” he added.

Ambassador Momen said: “The two countries have enjoyed close fraternal relations in areas of mutual interest since 1984, characterised by steady and stable development.”

She highlighted that these strong relations have achieved exceptional milestones over the past four decades, with significant progress in many areas of cooperation. She expressed eagerness to engage in discussions on further enhancing these relations and partnerships in the coming years, particularly in education, culture, defence, economic investment, energy cooperation, and food security.

The event was attended by officials from both Brunei and Oman.
