Oman and Bahrain issue joint statement

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain have welcomed the establishment of the Omani Bahraini Investment Company.

They stressed the importance of expanding the scope of cooperation and economic partnership by exploring further opportunities and encouraging the public and private sectors to diversify areas of economic and investment partnership.

This was stated in a joint communiqué issued on the occasion of King Hamad’s state visit to the Sultanate of Oman. It reads as follows:

“Stemming from the deep rooted bonds between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the distinguished fraternal relations between His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman, and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Majesty the Sultan received His Majesty the King, who led a high-ranking delegation, on a state visit to the Sultanate of Oman on  January 14 and 15, 2025. The visit aimed to promote the relations between the two countries.

“During the visit, extensive talks were held. Oman and Bahrain reviewed the progress of  joint action and bilateral cooperation.

“The two Leaders praised  the progress in bilateral relations and the growth in mutual interests. They stressed the importance of expanding the scope of cooperation and economic partnership by exploring more opportunities, and encouraging the public and private sectors to diversify the areas of economic and investment partnership in a manner that meets the aspirations of the two countries and their peoples. In this context, they welcomed the establishment of the Omani-Bahraini Investment Company, wishing it success.

“During the visit, the two nations signed a number of agreements, memoranda of understanding and executive programmes in various fields of interest to both countries, including fields that will boost the partnership between the two sides.

During the King of Bahrain's visit 25 agreements were signed between Oman and Bahrain.

“The two leaders also commended the success made by the Omani-Bahraini Joint Committee and its active role in promoting bilateral cooperation and implementing joint projects that serve the interests of the two countries. They underscored the importance of the committee’s continuous efforts to explore new areas of partnership to achieve common aspirations. These efforts include encouraging economic and investment initiatives between the public and private sectors.

“The two Monarchs also reviewed GCC developments and the achievements made at the level of  joint Gulf action.

“They also discussed regional and international issues of common concern. In this context, they underlined the importance of settling disputes and differences through peaceful means and the need to advocate dialogue and international cooperation to back efforts aiming to maintain regional and international security and stability.

“They also stressed the importance of enhancing consultation and intensifying coordination in their stances in a way that serves common interests and strengthens the pillars of stability, security and prosperity for all peoples of the region and the world at large.

“At the end of the visit, His Majesty King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa expressed his utmost thanks to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his accompanying delegation. His Majesty the Sultan in turn expressed his best wishes for good health and well-being to the King. He also wished the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people further progress and prosperity.”
