Oman and Austria celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties
The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Austria today celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Speaking at an event to mark the occasion, Mohammed Al Wahaibi, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial affairs said that Omani-Austrian relations are built on a solid foundation with the two sides keen to advance cooperation in all fields.
The Undersecretary said that the two countries share a respect for international law and a belief in diplomacy and dialogue as the means to solve regional and international issues and achieve international peace. He added that the two countries aim to enhance cooperation in the fields of the environment, the water sector, education, investment and tourism.
Christian Brunmayr, Austria's Ambassador to Oman, described the relations between the two countries as deep rooted. Those relations, he said, have developed steadily since diplomatic relations between Oman and Austria were established in 1973
In a statement to Oman News Agency, the Ambassador said that the development of relations serves both sides, praising relations in fields, such as politics, economy, energy and culture.
