Oman and Algeria to strengthen joint cooperation
Oman's Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, and Algeria's Foreign Minister, Ahmed Attaf, jointly chaired the eighth session of the Omani-Algerian Joint Committee in the capital, Algiers.
Oman and Algeria stressed the depth of their historical, cultural and social ties and the intention to raise relations to realise their aspirations and ambitions.
They expressed their satisfaction with the level of political consultation and coordination at various levels and on all regional and international issues of common interest.
They looked forward to strengthening consultation and coordination with regional and international organisations and forums to achieve their common interests and the interests of all Arab and Islamic nations.
They praised the distinguished level that relations had reached thanks to the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said and Algeria's President Andelmajdid Tebboune and their ambition to advance cooperation in various fields.
Oman appreciated the pioneering role played by Algeria to consolidate regional and international peace and stability.
Algeria appreciated the distinguished role played by Oman to establish the foundations of regional and international security.
The two parties discussed regional and international developments and their repercussions for peace, security and stability in the Arab region. They stressed the need to unite Arab ranks and unify efforts to confront the challenges facing the Arab region and the Palestinian issue.
Oman and Algeria renewed their condemnation of the heinous attacks committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people since October 7, which amount to war crimes and genocide, expressing their rejection of any attempt to liquidate the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
They affirmed the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent, sovereign state on the 1967 borders with East Jeruslaem as its capital.
They also welcomed the order issued by the International Court of Justice obliging the Israeli occupation to immediately stop its aggression against Rafah and the announcement by Ireland, Spain, Norway and Slovenia of their recognition of the State of Palestine. They called on all countries to follow suit in accordance with international resolutions.
Oman and Algeria also stressed the need for political solutions to the crises in a number of Arab countries and the rejection of foreign interference in all its forms.
Algeria praised the constructive efforts made by Oman to reduce tension and facilitate communication in the region. Oman praised the efforts made by Algeria at the UN Security Council level to defend Arab and Islamic issues, most notably the Palestinian issue.
They reviewed the existing relations between the two countries and stressed the need to improve them in economic, commercial, investment, industrial, tourism and other promising fields.
They praised the achievements of senior officials in preparatory meetings and welcomed the signing of memorandums of understanding and executive programmes in the fields of the judiciary, national solidarity, youth, sports, standardisation and conformity, and the national archives, which would open new horizons for cooperation in order to achieve their aspirations.
They praised the fruitful meetings with representatives of major companies, complexes and business leaders in the two countries in parallel with the Joint Committee meeting and welcomed the exploration of investment opportunities in the fields of energy, renewable energy, petrochemicals, the pharmaceutical industry and tourism.
Oman and Algeria signed two memoranda of understanding relating to social development and the judiciary and three executive programmes in the fields of youth, sports, standardisation, and the national archives.
