His Majesty accorded official reception in Singapore
An official reception ceremony was held for His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik at the Istana Palace in Singapore on the occasion of his State visit.
On the arrival of His Majesty's motorcade, the Sultan was received by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, who wished His Majesty and his delegation a pleasant stay.
After that, the President accompanied His Majesty to the dais of honour, where the Omani Royal Anthem and the Singaporean Republican Anthem were played. The Sultan then inspected the guard of honour, which saluted His Majesty.
The two leaders then headed to the reception building, where His Majesty signed the visitors’ book before shaking hands with the senior recipients from Singapore, who were: Masagos Zulkifli , Minister of Social and Family Development; Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, Minister of the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Education and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs; Edwin Tong, Minister of Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister of the Ministry of Law; Dr Suan JP, Chairman of the Economic Development Board; Julius Lim, Private Secretary to the President; Grace Ho, Press Secretary to the President; Kevin Cheok, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Samuel Tan, Head of the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Syed Nour Al-Din bin Sayed Hashim, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore to the Sultanate of Oman.
President Tharman Shanmugaratnam then shook hands with members of His Majesty's official delegation before commemorative photos were taken.
A meeting followed in which the President reiterated his welcome to His Majesty, who expressed his deep thanks and appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality.
During the meeting, His Majesty and the President reviewed relations and cooperation in all fields and said they were keen to generate more benefits for the people of Oman and Singapore.
They exchanged views on developments in regional and world affairs and talked about matters of common concern. The meeting was attended by official delegations from Oman and Singapore.
