Oman elected to governing body of the International Labour Organisation

15 June 2021

The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Labour, has won membership of the governing body of the International Labour Organisation (ILO)  for the period 2021-2024.

This was the result of elections held via videoconferencing on the sidelines of ILO’s 109th international session elections, in which the Sultanate secured the second largest number of votes for the post of the permanent member for Asia and the Pacific.

Oman has been an ILO member since 1994. Oman’s election to this position upgrades its status in the field of labour and highlights its active contribution towards the development of ILO criteria.
