Oman at meeting of Foreign Ministers of Islamic Countries

The Sultanate of Oman took part today in the 49th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The meeting, held in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, was themed “Moderation: The Key to Security and Stability”.

The session was opened by the Mauritanian President, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, in the presence of a number of Foreign Ministers or their representatives.

The meeting stressed the importance of OIC member states striving for the peoples of Islamic countries to enjoy peace, stability and prosperity. It urged the member states and the international community to continue joint action to support the solution of issues through political and diplomatic means.

Oman’s delegation to the meeting was headed by Sheikh Khalifa Al Harthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs. Oman’s delegation also included Saif Hilal Al Mamari, Oman's Ambassador to Mauritania and a number of officials from Oman's Foreign Ministry.
