Minister meets with European Ambassadors

17 December 2024

The Foreign Ministry held a meeting with the Ambassadors of the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom (UK) and Switzerland.

Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi chaired the annual meeting, hosted by Barnabás Fodor, Hungary's Ambassador to Oman.

The meeting discussed how to strengthen strategic partnerships and promote cooperation to generate stability and sustainable development.

The discussion also addressed major regional and international issues including: humanitarian crises, security challenges, the repercussions of climate change, and ways to enhance food security and sustainable energy.

Sayyid Badr highlighted the importance of joint efforts and international cooperation to address these challenges, by capitalising on available opportunities and intensifying efforts to achieve stability and global peace.

The talks stressed the need to enhance collective responses to global challenges. They emphasised adhering to the principle of respecting state sovereignty and upholding international law as a fundamental pillar for resolving conflicts and ensuring sustainable security and development.

The meeting follows the first GCC-EU Summit held in Brussels in October 2024. The summit marked a significant step in promoting the strategic partnership of member states, particularly in addressing shared challenges in security, the economy, and climate change.

This meeting was also attended by Khalid Almuslahi, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and several officials from the Ministry.
