Minister at joint Gulf Syrian ministerial meeting

Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, participated in a joint ministerial meeting between the Foreign Ministers of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and  Asaad Hassan Al Shaibani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic.

The meeting was held in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, chaired by Abdullah bin Ali Al Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait and Chairman of the current session of the Ministerial Council.

It was also attended by the Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC.

The meeting discussed relations between Syria and the GCC and ways to enhance them through joint mechanisms in various fields.

The meeting also reviewed current regional developments, especially the situation in Syria and the Syrian leadership's perspective on the political, economic and security recovery of this brotherly Arab country.

The Ministerial Council affirmed the firm position of the GCC countries in support of Syria's independence and full sovereignty over all its territories, stressing their support for all regional and international efforts seeking to achieve security and stability in Syria and to ensure the fulfilment of the aspirations of its people in building a prosperous future.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed Almaskari, Head of the Ministry's  department for the GCC and Region; Salim Albusaidi, Oman's Consul General in Jeddah, and officials from the Foreign Ministry.
