Minister and Iranian Foreign Minister hold joint press conference

Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi and Dr Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, held a joint press conference in Tehran following their bilateral talks.

Sayyid Badr highlighted the cooperative relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Iran, particularly in the economic, trade, energy, transport and tourism sectors.

He said that both countries had agreed to take practical steps to enhance trade and investment ties, to increase bilateral trade, and to facilitate transport, shipping, and travel. He added that their discussions also covered cooperation in food and health security projects.

Sayyid Badr said: “Our discussions addressed regional and international developments, and we affirmed the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts and strengthening mechanisms for constructive dialogue to address the current challenges facing our region.

“We agreed on the need to focus on finding sustainable solutions to regional conflicts based on respect for state sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs, thereby enhancing regional stability and ensuring lasting peace.”

Oman's Foreign Minister emphasised that the Palestinian cause was a central topic of the discussions, with both sides reiterating support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and their aspiration for freedom, independence, security and peace.

Regarding Syria and Lebanon, Sayyid Badr said that the two Ministers stressed the importance of respecting national sovereignty and supporting efforts toward stability, development and harmony.

Dr Abbas Araghchi expressed his appreciation for the visit of Sayyid Badr, commending Muscat’s constructive role in promoting regional stability and in deepening bilateral and international cooperation.

At the conclusion of the conference, the Ministers underscored the importance of maintaining communication and joint coordination on various issues to promote their mutual interests and to strengthen peace and stability in the region and the world.
