Meeting of the Omani-Iranian Joint Committee

The Omani-Iranian Joint Committee held its 19th meeting in Muscat today to discuss areas of bilateral cooperation in economic, financial, investment, technical and industrial fields.

The Omani side was headed by Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, whilst the Iranian side was headed by Seyyed Reza Fatemi Amin, Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade.

The two sides agreed on exerting more efforts in enhancing business relations and augmenting the volume of trade exchange between the two countries in the area of goods, as well as technical, tourism and investment services.

The two sides also discussed collaboration in the fields of industry, mining, finance, banking and free zones. They also touched on completing the process of signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the areas of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and the exchange of research experience.

They affirmed the importance of activating the agreement of cooperation in maritime transportation and the MoU on the mutual recognition of maritime competency certifications between the two countries.

The two sides explored investment opportunities in ports and the customs field. They also touched on cooperation in oil, gas, petrochemicals, heritage, tourism, culture, sports and youth areas.

The two sides underscored the importance of activating cooperation between the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the Omani-Iranian Joint Chamber to exchange business delegations and to encourage holding specialised exhibitions, aimed at supporting the private sector.
