Meeting of Oman India Strategic Consultation Team
The 13th session of the Strategic Consultation Team between Oman and India was held in the Indian capital, New Delhi.
The Omani delegation was led by Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, while the Indian delegation was led by Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Secretary (Consular, Passport, Visa, and Overseas Indian Affairs) at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
The session focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, including economic relations, trade and investments, as well as cultural and educational collaboration.
The discussions also covered arrangements for celebrating 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025 and organising the Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat next February. Political consultations were also held on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
On the sidelines of the consultations, Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy met with Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs. The meeting saw an exchange of views on future cooperation prospects and regional and international developments.
Sheikh Khalifa also spoke at a dialogue session at the India Research Foundation headquarters, where he highlighted the longstanding nature of relations between Oman and India. He praised the strategic partnership between the two countries and emphasized the importance of advancing cooperation in innovation and sustainable development to serve mutual interests. The session also touched on regional and international issues and Oman’s stance on them.
The meeting and discussions were attended by Sheikh Ahmed Al Maskari, Head of the Foreign Ministry's Department for the GCC and Region; Issa Saleh Abdullah Alshibani, Oman’s Ambassador to India, and several officials from both Oman and India.
