Extraordinary GCC Ministerial Council meets on Gaza

An extraordinary session of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) was held in Muscat today concerning developments in the Gaza Strip.

The session was chaired by  Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister of Oman and current President of the Ministerial Council, with the participation of the Foreign Ministers of the GCC countries and the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

The Ministerial Council discussed the developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, the escalating acts of violence and the random Israeli shelling of residential areas in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the killing and injuring of thousands of civilians. They also discussed the urgent and serious challenges facing the region as a result.

The Council stated the shared resolve of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to initiate an urgent humanitarian relief effort to assist the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, emphasising the necessity of ensuring that this aid is delivered to Gaza as soon as possible.
