Mauritania: Oman signs agreement on endowments and religious affairs
The Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance joint efforts in the areas of endowments (awqaf) and religious affairs through various programmes and projects.
The MoU was signed in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, by Sheikh Mohammed bin Saeed Al Maamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, on behalf of Oman and on behalf of Mauritania by Dr Sidi Yahya Ould Sheikhna Ould Al Marabet, Minister of Islamic Affairs and Original Education, .
The memorandum focuses on strengthening and developing religious sectors, exchanging expertise in managing endowments, and advancing educational and training programmes in this field.
This MoU represents a strategic step toward deepening cultural and religious ties between Oman and Mauritania, opening new horizons for fruitful cooperation in the future. It reflects both nations' commitment to strengthening and advancing bilateral relations to meet shared aspirations.
Dr Al Maamari also held official talks with officials from Mauritania’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Original Education. During the meeting, he emphasised the strong relationship between Oman and Mauritania and the importance of boosting cooperation in the fields of endowments and religious affairs.
