His Majesty and Egyptian President hold talks

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Abdel Fattah El Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt held an official session of talks at El Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo this evening.

The Egyptian President reiterated his heartfelt welcome to His Majesty as a dear guest of Egypt and its people. He wished His Majesty and his official delegation a happy stay. His Majesty reciprocated the kind sentiments, thanking the President for the warm welcome and hospitality.

The two leaders reviewed the distinguished relations and the deep-rooted historical bonds between the Sultanate of Oman and Egypt. They also explored aspects of bilateral cooperation and discussed ways of consolidating their joint interests to benefit the two countries’ peoples.

His Majesty and the Egyptian President also exchanged views on various regional and international developments.

The session of talks was attended from the Omani side by His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of Diwan of Royal Court; General Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nomani, Minister of the Royal Office; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance; Dr Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office; Abdul Salam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority (OIA), Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Oman's Ambassador to the Arab Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League.

From the Egyptian side the session was attended by General Mohamed Zaki, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production; Sameh Shoukry, Foreign Minister; Major General Abbas Kamel, Head of the General Intelligence; Dr Hala El Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development; Dr Mohamed Moait, Minister of Finance; Dr Assem Al Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities (Head of the Mission of Honour); Engineer Ahmed Samir, Minister of Trade and Industry, Khalid Radi, Egypt's Ambassador to Oman and Ahmed Fahmy, Spokesman of the Presidency.

His Majesty and the Egyptian President then held a closed-door session.
