Joint statement of Oman and Russia on occasion of His Majesty's State Visit to Russia

Joint Omani-Russian statement on the occasion of the State Visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Russian Federation during from April 21 to 22, 2025:

In furtherance of the bonds of friendship and the historic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation, and in response to a gracious invitation extended by President Vladimir Putin, His Majesty undertook a State Visit to the Russian Federation on Monday April 21, 2025 and Tuesday April 22, 2025.

The two Leaders held official talks in the Grand Hall of the Kremlin Palace, characterised by a spirit of friendship and a shared commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation across all sectors in a manner that serves the mutual interests of the two friendly countries and their peoples.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved in bilateral relations in recent years and emphasised the importance of building on those accomplishments and advancing their cooperation and partnership to broader and deeper levels.

The Leaders discussed a range of issues of mutual concern and explored ways to strengthen economic and trade relations between Oman and the Russian Federation across various sectors considered vital for development. They also stressed the importance of boosting joint investment opportunities and intensifying communication and exchange of visits between relevant institutions in both countries to follow up on joint cooperation programs.

On international affairs, the two Leaders reviewed current issues and underscored the importance of resolving conflicts and disputes through dialogue and peaceful means, in full respect of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. They also exchanged views on the Palestinian issue and reaffirmed the necessity of reaching a just solution that ensures the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, based on the two-state solution that establishes an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The two Leaders further expressed deep concern over the tragic situation in the Gaza Strip, affirming their support for international efforts aimed at achieving an immediate and sustainable ceasefire, ensuring the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians, initiating reconstruction efforts, and securing the return of displaced persons to their homes. They stressed the need for a full withdrawal of occupying forces from the Gaza Strip and all other occupied Palestinian territories.

As part of their commitment to strengthening the friendship and enhancing cooperation between their countries, the two Leaders welcomed the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding across various fields of mutual cooperation, the establishment of a Joint Economic Committee, and the mutual exemption of entry visas for citizens of both countries.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik expressed his deep appreciation to President Vladimir Putin, the Government of the Russian Federation, and its friendly people for the warm reception and generous hospitality. His Majesty extended an invitation to President Vladimir Putin to visit the Sultanate of Oman, which was warmly welcomed by His Excellency.
