Japan: Embassy holds reception for National Day

The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman to Japan held a reception on the 53rd National Day in the capital, Tokyo, hosted by Dr Mohamed Said Albusaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Japan, with high-level Japanese participation that reflects the status that the Sultanate of Oman enjoys among the Japanese people and government.

The ceremony witnessed the launch of a website dedicated to introducing the history of five decades of bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Japan.  The website is the result of an integrated political, economic and cultural project that was launched last year on the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Oman and Japan.

Ambassador Albusaidi said there is a bilateral desire to continue developing relations and push them to new heights

In his speech Japan's Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yoichi Fukazawa expressed his appreciation of the event.

“I am very happy to participate in the celebration alongside representatives of a large number of countries. We have excellent relations with the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Japan, and this is something that really pleases me. I enjoyed very much the beautiful atmosphere in this wonderful ceremony,” he said

In her speech, Miki Yamada, a representative in the Japanese Parliament, former Minister of the Environment and Secretary-General of the Japan-Oman Parliamentary Friendship Association, said that there are promising prospects for developing bilateral relations in the energy and industrial sectors. There is also potential for developing cultural exchange and achieving mutual understanding of heritage, she added

Guests at the event enjoyed traditional Omani cuisine and were introduced to Omani hospitality as they drank coffee and sweets in an Omani heritage tent. A booklet in Japanese, issued by the Embassy, was also distributed, highlighting the economic opportunities , investment incentives and natural and strategic potential that Oman offers.
