International expert hails Oman's tourism offering

Dr Saeed Al Batouti, Economic Adviser to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation and a member of the European Travel Commission, has praised  the Sultanate of Oman's unique and diverse tourist attractions as appealing to a wide range of global tourists.

In an interview with the Oman News Agency, Dr Al Batouti said that Oman tourism has strong, natural, historical, cultural, archaeological, religious, therapeutic, sports and social foundations, backed up by the resources of a modern civilisation.

He added that the investment opportunities available in Oman’s tourism sector are promising, thanks to a positive investment climate and the incentives and facilities granted to investors.

Dr Al Batouti described Oman as one of the best countries for adhering to the principles of sustainability in preserving its natural heritage, biodiversity, cultural heritage and traditional values, while respecting the social and cultural authenticity of the local community.

He added that the deep rooted hospitality of Oman's people, who maintain their customs, traditions and local arts, makes the Sultanate attractive for tourists with a wide range of interests.

He also said that the stability which Oman offers gives it a strong reputation in global tourism markets.

He emphasised the importance of authorities in the tourism sector making further efforts and implementing well-studied marketing campaigns.
