Foreign Minister discusses proposed Gaza ceasefire with Hamas
Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, held a phone call today with Ismail Haniyeh, Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas. During the call they discussed the details of a proposal for a ceasefire, confirming the movement's agreement to this proposal.
Dr Haniyeh said that the Palestinian side supports the ceasefire as a step towards calming tensions and stopping bloodshed. The proposal calls for a mutual stopping of military operations and the return of displaced persons to their areas, alongside the release of prisoners from both sides according to interconnected stages and a set of other objectives agreed upon by all parties, including lifting the blockade and allowing the entry of humanitarian relief into the Gaza Strip.
Oman's Foreign Minister expressed his welcome and support for the agreement and Oman's appreciation for the efforts made in this regard by the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Qatar in cooperation with the US administration.
Dr Haniyeh expressed his gratitude and appreciation for Oman's support of the just Palestinian cause, emphasising the importance of continuous communication, constructive dialogue and enhancing international efforts to implement legitimate international resolutions.
