His Majesty welcomes Egyptian President to Oman

The President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived in Muscat this afternoon on an official two-day visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik led the welcoming party for the Egyptian President. When the jet of President El Sisi touched down at the Royal Airport, His Majesty met the guest at the foot of the steps, welcoming him and wishing him and his accompanying delegation a pleasant stay in Oman.

Along with the welcome from His Majesty the Egyptian President was also received by : His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court; General Sultan bin Muhammad Al Nu’mani, Minister of the Royal Office, Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Interior; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance (Head of the Mission of Honour); Ambassador Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Ambassador of Oman to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States; His Excellency Ambassador Khalid Radi, Ambassador of Egypt to Oman, members of the Mission of Honour and members of the Egyptian Embassy in Muscat.

Then His Majesty and the President proceeded to the reception hall, passing between two rows of honour guards from the Royal Guard of Oman.

After a short rest, the convoy of His Majesty the Sultan and the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt left the Royal Airport, to head to Al Alam Palace for an official reception ceremony.

Before the procession reached Al Alam Palace, a squadron of cavalry lined both sides of the road leading to the palace gate.

Upon the arrival of the motorcade of His Majesty and President El Sisi at the entrance to Al Alam Palace, the RGO band played a welcoming tune and trumpets sounded as the motorcade entered the courtyard of the Palace.

His Majesty the Sultan then escorted the Egyptian President to the podium of honour, where the Egyptian national anthem was played and the artillery fired a 21-gun-salute for the guest.

Then His Majesty shook hands with the official delegation accompanying the Egyptian President, welcoming them and wishing them a pleasant stay. President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in turn shook hands with members of the Royal Family, Chairman of the State Council, Ministers and Commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP).

After that, His Majesty and the presidential guest proceeded to the Majlis hall where they took Arabian coffee.

His Excellency the Egyptian President is accompanied during his visit by: Sameh Hassan Shoukry, Foreign Minister; Major General Ahmed Muhammad Ali, the President’s Chief of Staff; Dr Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development; Major General Abbas Kamel, Head of the Intelligence Service; Major General Mohsen Abdel Nabi, Director of the President’s Office; Major General Mustafa Shawkat, Commander of the Republican Guard Forces and Khalid Radi, Ambassador of Egypt to Oman.

The visit will explore various areas that serve the joint interests of the two friendly countries and meet the aspirations of their peoples. It will also discuss a number of topics of concern to the two sides in the light of regional and international developments.
